How to use DNS to migrate into a Webuzo server?, Old and new servers have a DNS conflict (3 Replies, Read 2967 times)

I'm migrating from one VPS to another, the old server uses cPanel, the new server uses Webuzo. If I try to implement the same hostname and domains in the new server, no matter how I set up the nameservers (zone DNS), there is a conflict for every domain name. So, if I simply visit example.com in a browser, there are two different IPs to choose from (for the old and new servers).

And if I want to use SFTP or similar to copy or edit files, I can't specify clearly the old server and the new server.  :squi:

Is there any standard way that webmasters solve this problem, so that the old server can be in production during the migration, then somehow one simple change makes the world see the new server instead of the old one?

Hi,

Sir, can you please elaborate on this what issue were you facing in your domain after migrating the server from cpanel to webuzo?

What puzzles you. If two servers, possibly on different hosting companies, and with different IP addresses, host the same domain names (such as example.com), you do not see that this is a problem for the DNS system?

For migration, one wants one domain name to work for example.com on server 1, and a separate domain name to work for example.com on server 2. Anyone who has ever migrated from one server to another understands this problem. You don't want server 2 to be seen until migration is done, and you want server 1 to be seen and work until migration is done.

If you can't understand this, I give up.

Anyway, the solution simply requires one spare domain name, let's call it top.com .

If server 1 hosts websites name.com and hello.com, then the solution is to set up top.com so its A record points to top.com on server 2. Under top.com you set up subdomains name.com and hello.com .

After you do this, you can migrate easily by using name.com and hello.com to refer to sites on server 1, and by using name.top.com and hello.top.com to refer to the same sites as set up on server 2.

Once server 2 is setup with websites and mail, you reorganize server 2 to look like server 1, and set the new nameservers to transfer from server 1 to server 2.

I hope this idea helps others.
